Remember Peter Max? The pop artist with all those dazzling psychedelic colors and shapes, back in the 1960s and 1970s. He practically defined the era, yet he never went away in the beige ’80s and beyond.
Now in his late seventies, Peter Max is designing one of our Sunday Magazine covers for April! So we’ve decided to make that issue our “Spring” edition, and — since he asked for art direction — this art director is asking for April flowers and a red robin or two.
Max is opening a show in a Darien gallery, and as part of our coverage, the gallery connected us with his representatives, who will act as a go-between. No, I don’t get to meet Peter Max, at least not yet.
But we’re all thrilled that one of our Sunday Magazines will a real collector’s item. Peter Max had lent his talents to the Grammy Awards, the Super Bowl and the Olympics. And now to us.
