My Dad is my toughest client.
I can never get away with buying a Hallmark card. Every birthday and father’s day, he gets a card that I make up. Mom, too, for her birthday and mother’s day. But for my stoic father, it’s just a bit more of a challenge.
He’s 89 now, and I’ll probably be enslaved by his incessant demands for another 20 years. I sure hope so, at least.
The card to the left refers to our trip to the Yucatán Peninsula last year. He mentioned that he wanted to see the Mayan archaeological site at Uxmal, and since he hadn’t gone on a plane since getting shipped out of the Pacific in the 1940s, who were we to say no?
So why “Yucatán II”? I’m fantasizing that we’ll repeat the trip one day.
