Ulla Surland’s opening reception for Tara McKeianan’s Kovach exhibit of recent works will unveil one group of paintings that consists of macro views of details taken from nature, seed pods, blossoms, twigs, etc. Other paintings are large-scale depictions of colors engaging in a wild and wondrous dance.
Says Ms. Surland:
Tara McKiernan Kovach begins her paintings with intuative seemingly random marks. She responds to
these marks on a conscious and subconscious level, allowing this free association to manifest on the canvas. Her paintings are highly energetic and spirited. She uses oil and acrylic paints to create textured and multi layered works of great beauty, finesse and depth. Her colors are luscious and vivid, her tones ranging from murky darks to brilliant and rich middle tones to bright, clean highlights.
These recent works are on view Friday, May 11 to Saturday, June 30 at the downtown Fairfield gallery. The opening-night reception for Ms. Kovach is 6-8 p.m.
The gallery is at 11 Unquowa Road and can be reached at (203) 259-1572. Ms.
Kovach lives in Wilton with her husband and three children.
