The Nest Arts Factory will exhibit “Message in a Bottle,” a series of paintings by Ellen Hackl Fagan.
The show, aligned with the Art Trail, begins Friday at 7:30 p.m. – and runs through Sunday at 6 p.m.
Also, “An Uncertainty Principle,” a video installation by Mary Jo Lombardo, is Saturday only. This is a very site- specific installation that will be exhibited on the outside surface of the Nest as the sun begins to set.
From Ellen Hackl’s website:
Weaving threads from pop music, decorative art, complexity theory, Jungian psychology and Eastern philosophy my primary interest is in making connections in my paintings between color and sound. Inviting a balance between randomness and intention, like jazz music, my materials continue to reveal limitless possibilities for improvisation, echoing the chaotic beauty of life.
As an artist, the persistent challenge is, can the hand attain what the mind sees? For me, making art is a steady practice of love and trust.
Since earning a Masters of Fine Arts Degree in Painting and Interdisciplinary Media in 2005 from Hartford Art School, I was selected as a RADIUS artist through the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art and have been exhibiting my work extensively throughout Connecticut and more recently in New York City. I maintain my painting studio in Harlem and create ceramic sculptures at the Clay Art Center in Port Chester, New York.
