“One must dare to be himself, however frightening or strange that self must be,” said poet May Sarton, and that comment is echoed in the announcement for the Read’s Artspace E.G.O. show next week.
“Everything Gothic & Outrageous” exhibit draws upon the “darker facets of creative inspiration” and showcases works that embrace themes of horror, destruction, mythology, mystery, provocation and emotion. This exhibition will attempt to captivate viewers with art that reflects the hidden, morbid side of human nature and will provide a venue for those artists who strive to capture the strange. “Challenging the association of aArt and pleasant imagery, The E.G.O show takes viewers through the shadows of the artist’s, and their own, psyche,” the announcement promises.
Featuring work by Read’s Artspace artists and their guest “Alter-Ego” artists, the show includes live performance and refreshments. Suggested $5 donation.
