Stratford’s FTS Gallery is guilty of “Overindulgence,” a group show with artists both local and from abroad.
A capitalist society can be seen as overindulgent by nature. Our culture prides itself on overindulgence, whether it is by the superfluous consumption of food and drink, or individuals finding themselves unable to settle craving for power, sex, or technology. Is this a rite of passage for the privilege of having free will? Or is it a selfish condition in need of examination? The morality behind overindulgence is subjective. Good or bad, right or wrong— the featured artists will be examining this theme as it pertains to their own experiences.
The opening reception is 5 p.m-midnight on Friday, Oct. 14. Aside from the typical wine and cheese, “other refreshments including a special treat to fit the evenings theme will be served.”
