ArtPlace Gallery, an artists’ cooperative deprived of its space in the Southport train station after the 2008 fire, is now leaving its downtown Fairfield spot Sunday, Oct. 23. No word on why it’s leaving or where it will go next. It’s a loss for the downtown.
So it’s sad to announce their latest show, “The Last Picture Show,” is aptly named. The show features all the cooperative’s diverse artists, working in media ranging from photography to oil to intaglio to mixed media.
While ArtPlace is looking for a new space, it still hosts exhibits at Watermark 3030, 3030 Park Avenue in Bridgeport. Interim group shows are also planned in other venues.
For “Last Picture Show,” the opening reception is3-5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18 with an artists’ talk on Sunday, Oct. 23, 3 – 5 p.m.
The group turns 30 next year. Talk about growing pains.
