More devastating news for art lovers. EO Art Lab, the lovely modern gallery in Chester, has closed. It will maintain offices in the same building, consulting for businesses, but that wonderful ground-floor gallery is gone. It’s a loss for everyone, and for Chester’s Main Street in particular. The gallery has a steady number of openings and fun events, like dinners of films, but I suppose the economic model didn’t add up in this economy.
This follows another Connecticut River loss: the Left Bank Gallery in Essex.
Here’s their announcement:
eo is pleased to announce its transition from art gallery to art consulting firm. We will offer our residential, corporate, and institutional clients the same friendly, top quality assistance, but now in a more personal, tailored, and exclusive fashion. Our new office is located on the second floor above the former gallery. We will continue to present the best, brightest, and most unique contemporary artists to both new and seasoned art buyers alike. In five short years, eo has gained a strong international reputation and has positioned itself closely with top tier galleries across the world. The new firm will take better advantage of eo's global status, Schroeder's expertise as a renowned architect and designer, and Coleman's comprehensive management and curatorial skill. eo wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to all its loyal patrons far and wide, as well as many in the local community for their wonderful support and praise. eo looks forward to working with you!
