In New London, Expressiones Cultural Center’s mid-summer exhibit brings fresh contemporary art from Peru by Artist Rosa Tomatis. From their release:
An art exhibition with works in various materials that explores everyday life and that special place, present within us not only where everything is possible, but it also exists. A collection of works on paper, oil and mixed media boxes that explore intimacy and show it. An exhibition that talks of inner places , privacy and feelings, shelter and dreams of truth and love. The Secret Garden, a sensory experience.“The world is in constant change and we are ruled by our thoughts. They set a pattern that influences the emotional aspects of which we are not always aware and changes the course of our history. What we spend in terms of energy will become our words and actions. Good or bad, our particular feelings. My suggestion is to find a spotless place, a place devoid of physical or mental walls. Our own place where we take refuge from our negativity rescuing the white space: peace, harmony and wellbeing. A loving environment where we can create and enact hopes and dreams as if they were already a reality. It is not a story or a fantasy: the secret garden is a desire that becomes a refuge.” — Rosa TomatisThe show opens (in their new Bank Street location, the former liquor store with the gorgeous wine cellar) with a reception 5-8 p.m. Saturday, July 2 and runs through Saturday, Aug. 6.
