Internationally renown artist Sholeh Janati will exhibit her latest abstract paintings next month in a solo show at the Nylen Gallery in Westport.
The show debuts with a reception 6 p.m. Friday, May 20, with a talk by the artist at 7:15. Her works will be on display for six weeks through July 1.
Over 20 of Ms. Janati’s new abstract expressionist paintings will be on display, including selections from her “Red,” “Blue Splash” and “Cool Fire” series. Introducing a unique style that includes bringing Impressionist brushstrokes to her abstractions, Ms. Janati is taking her art in a new direction, says gallery owner Wendy Nylen, a Black Rock resident.
And the artist is happy with the venue.
“I’m excited to have this new innovation in the exhibition at Wendy Nylen’s Gallery,” Ms. Janati said. “The Gallery is a perfect showcase.”
Nylen has long been a prominent advocate of the national arts community and is highly regarded by artists everywhere for her accomplishments. Click here for a profile of Wendy’s commitment to the arts.
Ms. Janati’s work is characterized by strong brush strokes, rich textures and vibrant colors and her creative, spontaneous and affectionate personality shines through her paintings, which unite past, present and future and represents a great strength of cultural identity.
Born in Tehran, she adopted the United States as her home in 1988, today maintaining a studio in Westport. While her talents were originally recognized by Persian traditionalists, she has since concentrated on still life, nudes, portraits and abstract paintings.
