Known for her Antiguan heritage and a love for detail and storytelling, Ms. James was commissioned to create a spectacular group of 34 paintings for The Book of Gospels, now treasured and actively used by the Roman Catholic Church.
Goddesses, angels and nannies, the latter of which she says have been ignored in popular culture, are her new focus. They are vibrant examples of her passion for secular and sacred themes.
Her works, which are widely collected, are on view and for sale May 18-July 31. This is a private space, so call first for an appointment.
