The Wall Streeter enclave of Westport is still fighting mightily to maintain its former image as an art colony. Tonight is opening night for “Art About Town,” a street festival in downtown Westport.It launches a month of art displays in about 50 shop or restaurant windows, giving good exposure to some talented folks.
Main Street will be closed to traffic tonight for musicians and artists.

(Don’t be disappointed if it rains, “The 9th Wave” Connecticut’s other premier surf rock band will hot rod their way to Main Street on the Festival’s rain date, June 2. )
Bob Lasprogato and Uptown Jazz
Peter Rubino is a world-renown sculptor, art instructor and author who will present his “Symphony in Clay.” This is a unique, high-energy performance not to be missed. Watch hm mold, throw, tap and carve a 200 pound mound of sculptor’s clay while the trhrilling sound of great classical symphonies filll the air. The resulting piece will astound.
Westport’s own “The Dance Collective ”
In the spirit of an outdoor festival, food will be offered, al fresco, at tables along the sidewalks of Main Street. Among the offereings will be delicious barbeque from Bobby Q’s.
