A bunch of years ago, the NEST, a raw, reclaimed old factory right off the interstate, was a big part of the arts underground. Aside from rental space for artists, NEST had music, film, art, dance, all on a pretty regular basis. I’m still not sure what it was all about or what became of it.
The C.A.N. ( Collective Artist Network ) Presents:
“Spring Art Fest at The Nest”
Art, Music, Fire Dancers, and more!
This show is stated to run for April 29th from 6pm to 2am,
Statement from the shows Director:
“The Nest Arts Factory” a long standing icon in the Bridgeport Art scene has been graciously donated for our use by the Nest’s Director David Flynn. This would not be possible without his help. I will be acting as Director and Curator of this project along with Assistant Director and Curator Stan Olshefski.
There will be many other people helping to organize this show who are soon to be named. If you would like to help in any respect please contact me via my email at: Jaycusano@yahoo.com
If you can donate your time, talent, or any skill you may possess please do not hesitate to contact me.
The primary focus of this show is the artists. I would like to personally invite everyone out to come see their work, meet them, and talk with them about their art. Ask them about their processes and what makes them tick. The primary goal of this show is for everyone to come and get together. It is after all first and foremost an art show. This means not only to come and view art but also creates an opportunity for collaborative talks between fellow artists, networking possibilities between other gallery owners and artists alike. Help me make this one of the most memorable shows to hit Bridgeport in a long time.

“The Nest” has been an icon in the art world in Bridgeport for over 10 years. We have been given the opportunity to throw the final shebang at this amazing building before they move to another location. It is a great honor and we intend to make the most of it.
This will be set up as an all volunteer based show from everything to donated liquor and wine, to food from local restaurants. All the businesses that donate/sponsor will have their websites and company info imprinted on postcards, posters, and flyers that will be printed and distributed throughout the Tri-state area.
We would like to invite artists of all types and mediums, from the emerging to the established to submit for inclusion into this show. We are hoping to be able to show a broad range in diversity and bring back a little bit of wonderfulness back to Bridgeport.
We have been granted the first and third floors to use at our disposal; About 40,000 sq. ft.
On the first floor there is a small stage that can be used for performance/ bands. Will have a line-up Musical entertainment of all types for which we are still looking for submissions. I have many performance artists who wish to participate including several Burlesque groups, numerous fire dancers, even aerial acrobatics artists, hoola hoop girls, etc.
The third floor will be used as a reception area and the main gallery. There will be a second gallery on the first floor as well.
We are currently trying to generate the details as to artists, performers, bands, security, etc. and will let you know the rest of the details as they become available. All upcoming updates will be made on: http://www.facebook.com/collectiveartistsnetwork
Spread the word and let me know any thoughts or ideas you have to make this happen on a grand scale. We need more great local artists of all types and mediums. Let’s pour in the submissions people.
Artists or Performers: We welcome you to come check out the space.
If you would like to volunteer please let me know what your skills or strengths might be and if and when you can come for a sit down at some point in the next few weeks to hash things out…
Thank You all for the support on this show. We hope to make it a great, safe, and wonderful time for all involved.
