Man oh man. Want a little more testosterone in your art? “The Guy Show” will feature 10 manly artists, at ArtPlace Gallery in downtown Fairfield Feb. 1-26.
The invitational show was even curated by a guy, Gerald Saladygz.
The show will include male painters Chris Durante, a member of Norwalk Community College Art Department; Christopher Joy and Zachary Keeting, man co-founders of “Gorky’s Granddaughter,” an artist video interview site; Felandus Thames, who also is a silk-screen printmaker dude and recently was represented by the Jack Tilton (a man!) Gallery at Art/Basel/Miami 2010; and Jonathan Waters, whose man-inspired work has been exhibited at Art in General in New York City and locally at the Ivoryton and Madison Sculpture Miles.
Photographers Keith Johnson, whose man work has been displayed in Arizona, Washington and Wyoming, and Jeremy Keats Saladyga, who has had his man photography exhibited at the Michael Foley Gallery in New York City and the Museum of The City of New York also will be part of the exhibit.
Additionally, male sculptors Joseph Saccio, who received an award at Silvermine’s Art of the Northeast USA exhibit in 2010; male man Silas Finch, whose work will be featured in the film “My Brother Jack”; and Joseph Fucigna, a dude who recently had a one-man exhibit at the Sculpture Barn in New Fairfield, will be included.
An opening reception, I presume with corn chips and Budweiser, will be held 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6.
