The Ground Floor Gallery, that large, underused space at Read’s, will will host Part 1 of an ongoing series of artists’ talks in the gallery.
The featured speakers will be photographer Thomas Mezzanotte and painter Marcella Kurowski, ‘graphite divas’ Jodiann Strmiska and Rita Valley, talking about their exhibition partnerships for the current exhibition “Artists Choose Artists.”
This is planned for Thursday, Jan. 27, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., timed to coincide by the B.A.C.C. opening in the Arcade, which is on the same block, from 5 p.m.- 7 p.m.. That event features paintings and photography by Janine Brown, one of the artists-in-residence at The American Fabrics Building.
Refreshments will be served and donations will be accepted to help benefit future Ground Floor Gallery events. The gallery, possibly the largest of its kind in Bridgeport, dominates the ground floor of the old Read’s department store which survives today as an artists’ community. Sadly, for some reason artists are banned from selling art there, and exhibits are seldom held there.
