Greek life used to refer to frats and sororities. At Fairfield University, it could also apply to the Bellarmine Museum, which opened to the public on Monday.
“Gifts from Athens: New Plaster Casts from the Acropolis Museum and Photographs by Socratis Mavrommatis” will include eight new plaster casts, given to Fairfield University by the Acropolis Museum, including copies of an archaic kore, the renowned “Sandalbinder,” and six examples of Parthenon sculpture.
Also, eight black-and-white photographs of ancient Greek sculpture and architecture from the Acropolis by Socratis Mavrommatis will be displayed.
This is the Bellarmine’s first temporary exhibit, running Nov. 2-Dec. 17. Hours are limited, so check their website.
