With help from Dan Zedek of the Boston Globe, I hosted a defiantly and radically casual meetup under the stars yesterday.
We welcomed newcomers to the area: Martin Gee, Carrie Hoover, Luke Knox and Jennifer Knox. Martin and Luke were snatched up by the Boston Globe, which is a positive sign on a couple of levels. It seemed very few of us there, in fact, were from Boston.
Three years ago, Boston was the host city of the Society For News Design’s annual international meeting. Thousands of us took the city, packing the Plaza Hotel with our organized chaos. This time, there were about 20 of us, but it was a good cross-section of experience and companies. It was a much more intimate and mellow meeting on a warm summer night in the South End. Good conversation and some laughs. Just what the doctor ordered.
