Sean Corbett is not a Corbit, but his camera loves Bridgeport

June 16, 2010 By Lee

“Streets of Bridgeport and Beyond” is the name of the Port Coffeehouse‘s exhibit by Sean Corbett, who is also a former photog and editor at the Fairfield County Weekly.

When I heard the name, I automatically thought of Corbit Studio, the old downtown studio responsible for so much archival imagery of our fair city. A grandson who inherited some talent? No. Spelled differently, anyway. It’s actually this guy, who also has an eye for Bridgeport’s visual power (maybe even more so).

He’s also curating 95 Artists, open to artists from Florida to Maine who live along (and are inspired by) the interstate, at the Umbrella Arts Gallery in the East Village.

“It is about the people, places and things discovered alongside a lifeline we know so well,” he says.

The Port Coffeehouse show, made up of his photographs (some taken on assignment for the Weekly) and drawings,  is  Friday, June 18 from 6 to 8 p.m.
