The Barnum Museum really must be watching their pennies these days. Their cash register is broken. It was their only cash register.
“We need to raise funds for a new cash register so that we don’t have to write receipts out by hand and so the museum can keep an accurate watch on inventory and sales. PLEASE HELP! Every dollar helps :)” reads the plea on causes.com which been passed around the Internet but has collected no money.
That’s just too sad.
On Amazon, cash registers are on sale for under $200. Now, a real fancy point-of-purchase thingy with touch screen technology and digital inventory system might be a tad more expensive. But can’t someone in town just donate one? It’s a tough time for raising funds, and so many charitable requests circulate around town every day — and in a town with so much poverty and suffering, most pleas for money carry a greater sense of urgency and emotional appeal. That’s why the general public will likely be unmoved by this request.
So someone in the business community had better step up.
