This is something I predicted, then retracted. I might have been right the first time. Hudson, N.Y., which for years has been a hip little up-n-coming city in Columbia County, is getting its rainbow-flag credentials.
There are no gay bars or clubs. No gay guest houses or bookstores. Not even a piano bar. But obviously a gay draw. Everyone mingles comfortably. But the vibe is more Williamsburg, Brooklyn than Provincetown, Mass.
Now it’s getting gay-specific upstate. Next weekend is their first-ever Hudson Pride. With a pretty full roster!
With all the talk of us living in a post-gay society, with gay bars shutting down and being called irrelevant, gay bookstores almost completely extinct, seems like Hudson is bringing gay back.
