The John Davis Gallery, is one of my favorite spots, about two hours north, in the Brooklyn ex-pat enclave of Hudson. Williamsburg and Park Slope are well represented here on weekends.
The John Davis Gallery seems unassuming from the street, but is comprised of two buildings and a sculpture garden. John Davis’ blog has full descriptions and helpful insights on the works. Whereas my blog tracks the gallery scene, Davis has more to say about the art.
Their opening reception for their first-of-season show is 6-9 p.m. Saturday. The gallery will have six solo exhibitions (a sculptor, painters, and an installation artist) in both the front galleries and carriage house. The work will be on display through June 20.
The artists on display are Andrew Dunnill in the main gallery, and Roman Hrab, Jennifer Mazza, Jonathan Parker, Philip Heilman and Mark Tambella in the carriage house.
