Seems to me that at one time, the Fairfield History Museum was a sleepy little outpost of WASPy nostalgia, but now, in its modern new facilities it is looking a lot more relevant.
Right now they are more than halfway through a juried photo exhibit of amateur and professional photographers, in concert with an exhibition of Jay Maisel‘s work.
The museum is pretty generous about sharing online. Here are all the submissions for the show, just in case you can’t get out to the museum. It doesn’t say which works got the jury’s nod. The show closes Sunday, June 6.
If you do go, however, stop by the gift shop. I hate, hate, hate gift shops, and yet I love the little shop at the museum. If you see a lovely, energetic and charming woman working the merchandise, it’s undoubtedly the effervescent and unstoppable Lee Walther, who could sell ice cubes to Mr. Freeze. Tell her the “other” Lee says hi, and then buy something nice for yourself.
