My favorite throw pillows were actually designed locally by Ocheltree Designs, owned by a San Diego native named Richard Killeaney.
Killeaney, who has an MFA in textiles design from RISD, was selling his goods at the American Fabrics Building open studios last year when I met him and grabbed my beloved home goods. They’re soft, soft recycled tweed contrasted with a bright red trim. I absolutely love them, especially in winter.
Now, with summer coming, he’s selling these cunning beach totes made from khaki pants.
“I’ve been churning out my new beach totes which I’ve just added to Etsy. These totes have a nice boxy shape and are the perfect size for a rolled up towel, a steamy novel, and snacks. In addition, you can use these for groceries, yoga mats, or as your everyday tote. As always, each tote has individual character in the colors, pockets, and details,” he wrote to his email subscribers. “Let me know if you’d like to custom order a special color. Be on the lookout for new recycled leather bags this summer!”
Another good incentive to shop locally.
