Tomorrow I head out to the Denver Post, host of this fall’s annual gathering. The board will be talking policy, future plans and our direction, particularly as our friends overseas are enjoying enormous growth and potential.
I’ll ask you all one more time — what are we doing right, wrong and otherwise? As your regional director, I’m a liaison between members and the leadership. The critical observations and helpful insights many of you have shared with me are in my Region 1 report submitted to the Board on April 1, and they will be formally presented on Saturday. I’d still like to keep hearing from you, though. I’ll be online all weekend, and I’ll even probably be online during the board meeting, which runs pretty much all day Saturday. Send me your ideas, thoughts, tirades, insults, knock-knock jokes. Consider this a standing request, not just something to prepare me for the meeting. Region 1 is one of the smaller regions in the world, yet still very hard to wrap one’s head around.
Joining SND, which I’ve been a part of on and off since the 1990s, always represented tremendous opportunity for professional growth. Today, we don’t have the time or budgets we might have once had to fully take advantage of what SND offers us, especially those of us who work in semi-isolation. Is SND doing all it can do to make your membership worthwhile? Will you renew when the time comes? Let’s be frank here.
Also, what should I wear? I don’t have a THING.
